About me
I'm an IT professional based in England, currently working in IT Security. I've worked in IT since I was 13, rebuilding my school's network from an RM solution to a vanilla Windows domain with a couple of friends.
Since then I've worked in a number of different roles including desktop technician (education), network manager (education), network & security engineer (local government) and Deputy Senior Information Security Officer (local government). Since June 2022 I've been the Senior Information Security Officer for a software development company.
I have a Masters degree in Professional Computing (dissertation here) from Staffordshire University, for which I self-studied at home over four years. Having not gone to university as an undergraduate that was certainly an experience - both enjoyable and frustrating at times. Above all, getting my Masters showed me I could teach myself and study.
In 2020 I passed the ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) exam and became accredited with ISC2 as a member (more about my CISSP experience and being an ISC2 member on my blog). Then in December 2022 I achieved a career goal in become a Chartered IT Professional with the BCS.
